Self-Introduction / Identity
Origin Story
Everyone has a moment when the puzzle pieces click. For me, it was when I first understood how an ad request becomes a bid, and a bid becomes an impression. That moment set the direction for the next decade.
I'm Ranjan Dasgupta. I grew up in India, did my B.Tech at WBUT, and started my career at CyberSWIFT. The first real turn into advertising was at Google: DoubleClick, DFP, AdX, AdSense. Suddenly I was inside the machine—seeing how demand and supply get matched at scale, how yield gets optimized, and how many things can go wrong (and right) in a real-time auction.
When programmatic clicked
Programmatic isn't just "automated." It's a full stack: identity, data, bidding, clearing, attribution. Once I saw that stack, I couldn't unsee it. I moved to Automatad, then to Glance where we built a unified monetization stack across Web, App, and CTV and scaled it to $200M+. Now at InMobi I'm focused on exchange architecture for Web and CTV. The through-line is always the same: making the pipeline transparent, efficient, and fair. I've written about that in programmatic advertising and exchange architecture.
